Chase & Chance Cheeney - the powerhouse duo that makes up THE CHEENEY BROTHERS. At only 18 and 22, these boys are mature beyond their years in their songwriting ability. THE CHEENEY BROTHERS are currently working on new music in the studio for release in the near future. With a handful of original songs already out on all streaming platforms, and dozens more written and waiting, the brothers are working on whittling down what they feel is some of their best work yet to present to the world. Over their years, THE CHEENEY BROTHERS have performed in most of Houston's major music venues, and even performed with the legendary Foreigner at the massive Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion (16,500 capacity).
No strangers to performing live, THE CHEENEY BROTHERS gig often, regularly playing multiple times a month. They often do 3 or 4 hour shows playing a revolving swath of original and cover songs, showcasing their wide variety of musical interests, true depth of talent, and mature musical taste and ability. 18-year-old Chase Cheeney is the voice of The Cheeney Brothers, along with providing music in the form of fiddle and guitar playing at times. Chase started out writing original songs, and progressed to attending a songwriters camp called "Real Life Real Music" at the Dosey Doe in Spring, Texas, as well as "Aspire Music Songwriters Camp" in Montgomery, Texas. This inspired Chase to write more songs because he "loved the feeling of the crowd."
Chase started out taking voice lessons and playing in Performance Groups at School of Rock, then proceeded to further his education in music with guitar lessons. Currently, he takes voice lessons from Aspire Music with Laina Standard. Chase feels she has brought him much further with his voice as he grows, and is really enjoying working with her.
Chase has been playing music with his brother Chance for almost 6 years at many different venues. His other interests include playing the fiddle, swimming, video games, and metal detecting with his Dad. The boys got to travel to Nashville, not once, but TWICE, which Chase described as "a dream come true." While there, the brothers worked on artist development and play at several venues like The Commodore Club, The Bluebird Cafe, and even got a tour of the legendary Grand Ole Opry (and much to the boys surprise, got to play on the stage so many legends have graced before).
22-year-old Chance Cheeney is the main guitarist and back-up vocalist for The Cheeney Brothers. Chance plays lead and rhythm guitar, bass, and some ukulele. He picked up the guitar about 8 years ago and learned on his own by ear. Chance has also been in Performance Groups and taken guitar lessons at School of Rock like his brother Chase. Chance "eats, sleeps, and drinks guitar."
Chance really enjoyed the experience of releasing the bands first single "That Is What We Said" on all platforms in July of 2019. This single and video was something the brothers earned by winning 3rd place in the "We Rock Youth Ministries Competition" in Waco, Texas. This was a surprise because the brothers had no idea that they were going to do this.
Chance enjoys all genres of music from country to rock, but his favorite by far is 80's hair metal. His hobbies are working out, swimming, playing video games, and watching movies with friends. Chance agrees that it "was the best summer ever" when they travelled to Nashville 2 times and performed at the different venues, and got the surprise chance to perform on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. The boys worked on their Artist Development with a company called PCG Universal in Nashville and learned many new things to help further their careers as musicians and improve their overall performances.
